In Christianity, an unreached people group refers to an ethnic group without an indigenous self-propagating christian church movement. Any ethnic or ethno-linguistic nation without enough Christians to evangelize the rest of the nation is an “unreached people”.
It is estimated that of the 7.2 billion people alive in the world today, 3.0 billion of them lived in unreached people group with little or no access to the Gospel of Jesus Christ…..In the Bible, the Greek word “ethnos” is translated as “nations” which means tribes, people or ethnic group.
Islam is the major challenge for Christianity today.
There are still many Unreached People in the world today. Majority of them are in Africa.
According to Operation World (A Prayer Guide To All Nations) “Africa has 13 of the world’s 20 least-evangelized countries by percentage. There are many clusters of unreached people groups in Africa. The vast majority are muslims of varying degrees of commitment and orthodoxy. Reaching them is a great challenge in terms of spiritual opposition, cultural leaning and effective missions strategies. Countries with less than 1% evangelicals are Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Mali, Guinea, Niger, Djibouti, Somalia, Mayotte and Comoros. This is just Africa.
