AUTHORITY OVER THE POWER OF DARKNESS-PART 3. An army officer has just returned home from a very busy day and as he was planning to take a rest and spend some quality time with his family, he got a call from his superior to report back to the office immediately for an urgent assignment. As he was preparing to return to the office, one of his kids asked, “Dad, are you going back to the office again?” The man said, Yes my boy, I had wanted to take some rest and spend some little time with the family but I just have to respond to this call from my superior. That is authority! Authority is power or ability to command. Every Christian has been given authority over the host of darkness, but unfortunately only few recognise this authority, and among the few that recognise it only a very few exercise the authority. AUTHORITY OVER THE POWER OF DARKNESS-PART TWO. John has used two simple words to describe some of the attributes of God in his first epistle

1. “God is light”: This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all (1John 1:5). (more…)

AUTHORITY OVER THE POWER OF DARKNESS-PART ONE. Those who live in places where we often have power failure we understand very well what it means to live in darkness, and the differences that exist between darkness and light. There are two major forms of darkness 1. When the day is over and the night comes and the Electricity Supply Company decides not to give light or there is power failure and there is no other substitute, there will be darkness. 2. When Satan and his agents dwell and, or operate in a particular place or people in a particular time, there is unseen darkness that surfaces. Whatever form of darkness it is, the following are often the result: confusion, suffering, poverty, inefficiency, grumblings etc. We are living in an age in which total freedom from any form of darkness has been made possible by God both technologically and spiritually. THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER-PART 7. Anyone who is used to listening to political campaigns will often hear the sometimes over exaggerated promises that politicians make to convince people to vote for them. Unfortunately only very few keep to those promises as they often change to pursue selfish gains after they have taken up power. Our Lord Jesus Christ was never a politician; He needed no favour from man before exercising His power and authority as King and Saviour. He was born a King, sent from heaven as the Saviour of the world and lived to give light to those in the dark. What a great promise the Lord made to the early disciples and to those who followed Him, among who we are one:“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER-PART 6. What is God saying and what is the church doing in the midst of the different chaos all over the world? What manner of men do we ought to be in the midst of persecutions against the elects, natural disasters, political instability, acts of lawlessness, wickedness and violence that are in their increase in different part of the world. Daniel saw a vision over 500years Before Christ, of a world and a kingdom that rose up against God and His people. Daniel saw a society and a kingdom that rose up to fight God’s purpose and to enforce evil and wickedness, violence and confusion among the people. Despite the confusion and the disaster intended by the kingdom of evil, God gave a promise to His people “And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits” (Daniel 11:32). THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER-PART 5. Who is that good father, whose child is obedient, faithful and committed to him, that will turn his ears away from the child’s cry in times of need, or who is that good employer who has a very dedicated employee who has an outstanding performance in his job that will not rewarded accordingly? Our God is more than a good father and a good employer to us. He is a loving and merciful God who remains faithful even when we are not faithful. The Bible told us the story of a rich young man who expressed his desire to inherit the kingdom of God to the Lord Jesus Christ. When Jesus asked him if he knew the commandments, the man said he has been keeping all the commandments and was (more…)

THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER-Part 4. Everyone has at one point or the other come to a cross road in one area or the other in life. The Bible recorded the experience of the Israelites in the desert who came to a dilemma after they had marched out excitedly out of Egypt where they have been enslaved for 400 years. Pharaoh their slave master and his officials just suddenly realised that they have lost the services of the Israelites then he quickly prepared his chariots and army to pursue the people of God. As the Israelites looked behind them, they saw a multitude of army pursuing them behind and they were gripped with fears. The people began to murmur and grumble against Moses their leader when they saw the Red Sea standing on their way in the front and the Pharaoh’s army coming behind. (more…)

THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER PART 3. Those who have been in the wilderness before know how lonely, uncertain, depressing and confusing life could be in the wilderness. Life in the desert on the other hand is what no man could desire. I remember about 20 years ago when I lived in a part of Nigeria where it hardly rained and of course many people refer to the place as a semi-desert. I hardly slept in the night because of the heat, people use to go in search of any available river and stay there most time of the day to cool their body since there was no electricity as of that time and no potable water as well which would have eased life a bit. How wonderful and comforting it is in that situation to know of God’s promise: “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:19). (more…)

THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER-PART 2. The fulfillment of some of the promises in the Bible took place in the past; some are for the future while others are for the present. It is important for us to know that God does not take His promises lightly; He keeps them accordingly when we walk in obedience to His principles. One of God’s promises that does not only have its fulfillment in the past and present but also on continuous basis is that of bringing men from the kingdom of darkness to His Kingdom when we ask Him, “Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession” (Psalm 2:8) (more…)
